Halloween 2009 - The Dead Pictures
Boo to you!
This year, we are adding a new twist to the fun. Instead of a costume contest we are going to make things just as creative but a little more macabre. So, let your morbid side show and please bring a picture of yourself playing dead.
There is a contest for whomever brings the best picture of themselves “dead.” There might even be categories, such as scariest, most creative – I haven’t figured that out yet. Check back here for updates.
We’ll be posting all pics on a lovely wall display and party attendees will have a chance to vote for the winners. Here is some more info that will hopefully address most questions about this:
1. I’m not clear on the idea - do I have to take the picture, or be in the picture, or both?
1A: HOPEFULLY, be IN the picture, so we can all admire each other’s art work. However I’m happy to give this the loosest possible interpretation and just say – you need to be responsible for the picture you submit in some way, either as subject or photographer or whatever “responsible for the picture” means to you. However, printing out some random picture you found on the internet does not count.
2. Wow! I’m really into this idea! How many pictures can I submit for the contest?
2A: You can bring as many to post as you want, however only one can be submitted for the contest. So you need to pick a favorite.
3. I’m either really shy, or really popular. Can I have other people in the picture with me?
3A: Yes, there is no limit to the number of deathly participants in your photo.
4. Can I team up with someone else to submit a photo?
4A: I’ll allow TWO people to share a photo submission if they want. If that pic wins, they share the fabulous prize.
5. I think this idea is in very bad taste, Amy.
5A: I sincerely apologize if you feel this way. This is meant to be fun and/or silly, and I am not trying to be offensive. If you don’t want to participate, that is just fine.

Amanda Palmer is one of my favorite artists. And, it just seemed like a fun idea.
7. Do I have to be dead in my Halloween costume?
7A: Nope.
8. But, can I if I want?
8A: Yep.
9. Can I make my photo one of those murder mystery things where there are clues in the picture and you get to guess who killed me?
9A: Yes, and I will be very jealous if you can pull this off.
10. Can I actually kill someone for my photo?
10A: No – sicko! You will LOSE POINTS and NOT WIN for actually killing someone. For serious. BIG frowny face.
